As you will no doubt be aware, the Government announced yesterday (21/1/22) that it was no longer recommending that secondary age students wear face coverings in classrooms.
However, data shared with Doncaster Headteachers today indicates that although infection rates are declining sharply in our Borough, the highest rates continue to be in secondary age students. Parents and carers are still recording around 50 new cases every week and although we have managed to remain open to all year groups, we are still experiencing regular Covid-related staff absences.

Last week the national rate of staff absence was 8%, whilst McAuley was nearly 13%. It is testament to the support that staff have given to covering these absences which has minimised disruption to learning.
We are not through the woods yet!

As such, I would ask that parents and carers continue to support us by encouraging your child to continue to wear face coverings in class and communal areas.

We will review this before half term.
God Bless
John Rooney
